The Mexican food conglomerate, Gruma, wanted to celebrate Mexico's 200th anniversary of its independence with this traditional "Romeo and Juliet" fable about doomed lovers Izta and Popo, who were transformed by the gods into the two still-active volcanoes of the same name. 30 seconds is not a lot of time to tell a love story like this, but we helped bring Nanospore's beautifully illustrated storyboard to life, seamlessly integrating their 2D illustrations and cell animation into 3D environments to haunting and beautiful effect.
